Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Officer

  • Location: Lyndhurst, New Forest
  • Job Type: Temporary 3 months - with possibility to become permanent.
  • Hours: Part Time – 23 hours per week
  • Hybrid / Flexible – Must live within commutable distance to office in case of emergency.
  • Salary: £40,000 per annum PRO RATA

We are seeking an Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Officer to lead operational response in emergency planning and business continuity. This role is crucial in ensuring that the business complies with statutory regulations and legislation and maintains robust emergency planning and business continuity arrangements across all functions.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead the business’ emergency planning and ensure compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
  • Develop and maintain the Business Continuity arrangements to ensure service functionality during interruptions.
  • Provide tactical and operational advice during emergencies, coordinating the response and liaising with external partners.
  • Chair and coordinate the Safety Advisory Group, supporting event organisers and encouraging cooperation between agencies.
  • Analyse potential risks across the district, ensuring the risk register is current and comprehensive.
  • Develop and deliver training and exercises for staff involved in emergency planning and business continuity.
  • Maintain and update emergency plans, ensuring they are accessible and understood by relevant staff.
  • Advise on policy development and manage performance reports for emergency planning and business continuity.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Emergency Planning or a related field.
  • Substantial knowledge of emergency planning, resilience, event safety, and business continuity.
  • Proven experience in effective partnership working and teamwork.
  • Understanding of local authority roles and responsibilities in emergency planning and response.
  • Excellent communication skills, including public presentations and training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable: An emergency planning/crisis management qualification.
