Reed Business Support are assisting Hampshire Constabulary in their search for Emergency Call Handlers to join teams in Portsmouth. The roles are permanent and full time

Due to the nature of the role, it will involve rota consisting of a mixture of shifts, and will include nights, weekends and bank holidays. Shift allowance of 14-20% extra will be available for working unsociable hours. The starting package including the shift allowances is £31,000+

Full training and support is offered with this role.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE RESIDED IN THE UK CONTINOUSLY FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS (so background and security checks can be completed).

The Role

  • Being the front line of the Police, taking calls from the public and managing incidents in the control room.
  • Deploying police resources to incidents.
  • Receiving emergency and non-emergency calls.

The Person

  • Excellent communication skills, spoken, written and verbal.
  • Resilient, focussed, and empathic.
  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to learn and use new systems and use multiple systems at once.
  • Ability to prioritise cases as well as multitask between calls and file management.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment would be advantageous for this role.
