Design Engineer - Motors
Permanent Position
Monday – Thursday 8am-4:45pm, Friday 3:45 pm finish

Our client are a leading manufacturer providing specialist solutions to a variety of industries such as aerospace, power generation, rail and oil and gas industries. They are looking for an experienced Design Engineer, with experience of Motors

Responsibilities:
Design Engineer
  • Working with production departments to ensure that all designs are suitable for volume manufacture and to supply all information necessary to enable production to procure and build necessary tooling, equipment and plant to deliver the final project.
  • Arranging samples and prototypes for testing, carrying out testing (in conjunction with laboratory) and analysing results
  • Create and maintain all necessary drawings and other documentation related to the project(s).
  • Secondly to give technical engineering advice to other parts of the business as and when necessary
  • Create proven engineering designs
  • Carry out DFMA on a routine basis
  • Define all plant / equipment / tooling requirements
  • Validate all designs by prototyping and testing
  • Deliver designs to an agreed schedule
  • Create regular status reports
  • Create and maintain BOMS in ERP system up to the point of product release (numeric issue) after which responsibility transfers to support function
  • Create and maintain all drawings related to project(s) being worked on.
  • Evidence of a technical education and would prefer a minimum of HNC/HND level qualification.

Qualifications/Experience required
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Some electrical engineering experience would be desirable
  • Electronic/PCB design e.g. timer circuits, PWM circuits, logic circuits
  • Electromechanical design e.g. motors, solenoid valves
  • Experience with high-voltage applications, particularly high-voltage switchgear
