Junior Electrical Design Engineer- Substations

£30,000- £35,000 per annum

Kingston Upon Thames

We are seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer proficient in HV substation and network design to enhance our design department. This department specializes in project management, design, and owner's engineer roles for electrical power projects worldwide, primarily focusing on maritime endeavours, notably container terminals.

The primary expertise required for this position includes designing private distribution networks at voltages up to 33kV. Additionally, familiarity with LV systems design and building services design would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Designing new substations and distribution networks
  • Conducting feasibility studies and upgrading existing infrastructure designs
  • Performing detailed HV cable design and earthing studies
  • Utilizing system modelling software, particularly for protection studies (e.g., ETAP or equivalent)
  • Fulfilling owner's engineer responsibilities, including on-site supervision during construction.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Prior involvement in high-voltage substation design or construction projects
  • Understanding of electrical plant components and control systems
  • Ability to adapt to various projects simultaneously

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with HV network feasibility projects
  • Management of multi-disciplinary engineering endeavors
  • Reviewing detailed designs and overseeing site construction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience in related roles
