THE BUSINESS
 
Westray Recruitment Group are seeking an experienced Crane Service Engineer for our client based in Teesside. The company in question are one of the leading independent lifting equipment suppliers. Our client has been operating within the industry for almost 30 years and have continued to grow their reputation and client list during this period. The successful applicant will utilise their multi-skilled abilities to undertake both planned and reactive maintenance to a wide range of cranes, plant, and industrial equipment and ideally be electrical bias qualified to 18th edition regulations. As an essential member of the team, the Electrical Crane Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing various types of cranes. Your expertise in electrical systems, fault diagnosis, and problem-solving will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of lifting equipment across the UK.
  
THE ROLE
  
  1. Crane Repairs and Maintenance:  
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify faults, and perform necessary repairs on cranes.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers for comprehensive maintenance.
  
  1. Installation and Commissioning:  
  • Install new cranes and lifting equipment at customer sites.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards during installation.
  • Conduct functional tests and commissioning procedures.
  
  1. Problem Solving and Fault Finding:  
  • Analyse complex electrical problems related to cranes.
  • Diagnose faults promptly and implement effective solutions.
  • Prioritize safety and reliability in all repairs.
  
  1. Documentation and Reporting:  
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Generate detailed reports for management and clients.
  
  1. Safety and Compliance:  
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including PUWER and LOLER.
  • Implement safe working practices during crane operations.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards and guidelines.
  
  1. Customer Interaction:  
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding maintenance schedules, repairs, and safety protocols.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations.
 

THE PERSON

Essential:  
  • Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in crane repairs, fault finding, and maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Immediate availability for work.
  
Desirable:  
  • Experience with various crane types (e.g., mobile cranes, tower cranes, overhead cranes).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Additional qualifications in lifting equipment inspection (LOLER).
