Electrical Controls Engineer - National Infrastructure

Electrical & Controls Engineer with excellent experience in electrical control equipment, PLC programming (They use Rockwell & Siemens) & safety critical experience is required by a global civil engineering company in Bristol.

If you have experience in High Hazard industries, such as nuclear, defence, airports etc, then that would be ideal, but they would look at other industries, and train you up. Can offer a lot of flexible working, so quite a bit of working from home if needed (option to go into the office also)

My client is looking for a range of levels, from Junior to Senior Level and you should have the following experience:

  • Proven relevant experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, airports etc
  • Knowledge and experience of a broad range of electrical control equipment and its application in automated and safety-related systems.
  • Good knowledge of process systems and how to control them.
  • Experience in a systems-based approach, requirements decomposition and substantiation.
  • Knowledge of electrical and safety sector standards including BS EN 61508
  • PLC or SCADA programming experience
  • Ideally hold an Engineering degree

Desirable:

  • A good understanding of the safety lifecycle for EC&I safety systems.
  • Experience in design, substantiation, verification & validation, safety justification of high-integrity software-based protection and/or safety control systems.
  • Development, software testing techniques and experience in installation and commissioning of PLC / SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of measurement system specification including instrumentation performance.
  • Experience in deploying novel technologies in high-integrity control and instrumentation applications.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering and other systems engineering approaches.
  • Chartered engineer status with a relevant professional body (or experience necessary to qualify for such).

My client has a range of roles, and you will work on projects relating to national infrastructure and national defence, so some really complex, unique but exciting projects to work on. Also, their culture is excellent, with some true flexible working.

They are offering salaries starting at £35,000 for more junior candidates and up to £70,000 for more senior candidates, with additional benefits of 15% pension, private healthcare and at a senior level potential car allowance.
