Electrical Systems and commissioning engineer

We have a role available working with our client who manufacture new, repair damaged and replace old access machinery and parts. Covering Municipal fire, Airport fire, oil field fire, power transmission and general access industries.

Job Summary

Responsible for managing a team while improving, implementing and building Installation and Control system equipment such as Limit, proximity switches, gauges and various PLC components.

On new machines you will be working from drawings produced by the engineering team so the ability to read and create electrical schematic drawings is required.

Including:

  • Installation of Control system equipment such as Limit, proximity switches, gauges and various PLC components
  • Fitting of hydraulic valves, hoses, testing hydraulic hoses and other components
  • Fitting of water system pipe work
  • Problem solving any faults or issues in new build designs along side engineering team
  • Writing of technical reports and procedures

Once trained in house a regular part of this role would be to travel to foreign countries to set up, repair and aid customers. You will receive a salary enhancement for each day spent outside of the UK and will be provided with a company credit card to be used for travel expense and other related expenses.

Hours will be Monday - Thursday 7:15am - 4pm

(Including Breakfast break at 10am (15mins paid))

Friday 7:15am - 1pm

(Including Breakfast break at 10am (15mins paid))

You would be expected to:

  • Have knowledge working in a manufacturing environment including wiring control panels and using schematics
  • Electrical wiring of truck mounted machines
  • Proficient in use of electrical instrumentation (Multi meter, etc.)
  • Proficient in use of soldering equipment and measuring equipment
  • Own tools
  • Training will be given on steel preparation
  • Use of hand tools
  • Installation of hydraulic or electrical drive motors
  • Fitting nylon pads using Shims
  • Basic knowledge of Hydraulic schematics and assembly
  • Use of overhead cranes would be ideal
  • Use of metal turning lathes would be desirable but not required
  • Fear of height may be an issue as you may have to go 60m+ in cages
