A leading UK publisher and content provider for and about the rail industry is looking for an experienced Editor to lead the editorial team to create high-quality and engaging content across print, digital and events. This is a fortnightly publication with online news and analysis, with a range of events and industry reports. The Editor will develop story ideas, and reviews and will revise core content and attend industry events, as well as playing a pivotal role in shaping the publication. This role offers hybrid working, with three days working from home and two days a week in the company’s Peterborough office.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for the editorial direction of the Brand across all channels, including brand vision and overall strategy
  • Responsibility for content and audience engagement
  • Representing the brand in the market, including hosting and attending events
  • Supporting and developing Content teams
  • Building and strengthening relationships with freelancers and contributors
  • Determining the look and feel of the publication across print and digital, in conjunction with the Art Director and Head of Digital
  • Plans and directs/briefs all core content

We are looking for an experienced Editor, ideally with an understanding of and interest in the rail industry or associated markets. However, we would also like to hear from candidates who have experience working on other forms of related transport publications, or a strong B2B background. You should have the ability to be able to connect with and influence key figures and organisations. You will have proven writing and editing skills, with strong people management skills and capable of evaluating audience metrics and devising strategies to drive audience and engagement growth.
