Elevation Recruitment Group are excited to be working with an innovative Hydrogen Technologies company who are recruiting an EC&I Engineer to join their new facility in Sheffield.

Our client is seeking an Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer, who will assist with the design and optimization of its Hydrogen production reactor and system.

The EC&I Engineer will have technical ownership over the electrical design process including microwave reactor, compressors, sensors, valves and other key elements of the production sub-system and integration of these into a compact and efficient containerised system.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join an innovative company with market-leading technology. This technology produces Hydrogen on-site, for a fraction of the cost and energy consumption of existing processes.

Responsibilities of the EC&I Engineer will include:

  • Assist the team in determining equipment sizing/specifications to supply to vendors.
  • Design and implement control systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Create electrical drawings for company products.
  • Determe and document control requirements in a user requirements specification (URS) which will be handed to a supplier who will implement the PLC.
  • Liaise with vendors (e.g . systems integrators and PLC programmers).
  • Support technicians to help with the electrical fitting of components into the containerised system (e.g. generation of work instructions).
  • Ensure designs and built systems/components are compliant with relevant legislation/standards.
  • Support staff in running equipment (e.g. helping with fault finding, datalogger analysis, evaluation of system performance, etc.)
  • Assist with fault-finding and root-cause analysis activities.

We are keen to speak with EC&I Engineers with the following:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical or Controls Engineering
  • Significant experience in an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation role
  • Knowledge of ATEX regulations
  • Previous experience in Hydrogen industry would be advantageous, although not essential
  • Previous experience working in a start-up would be desirable
  • History of generating CE/UKCA files
