Position: Early Years Teacher (QTS)
Grade: Main/Upper Pay Scale M1 – UPS3
Location: Islington

Start Date: 15th April 2024

Working Hours: 32.5 hours per week

Spencer Clarke Group is proud to be working in partnership with Islington Borough Council to seek an Early Years Teacher (QTS) for a nursery setting within the borough. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and passionate individual to make a positive impact on the lives of young children.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the early years foundation stage curriculum for all children at the Centre under the guidance of the Head of Centre.
  • Lead the planning of learning activities for children aged 3 to 5 years, ensuring high-quality experiences aligned with the EYFS curriculum.
  • Act as a key person for a group of children, fostering secure relationships, and supporting their individual development.
  • Lead and coordinate nursery practitioners, contributing to staff management and deployment.
  • Ensure the needs of all children, including those with SEND, are understood and addressed effectively.
  • Contribute to drafting and evaluating curriculum policies to maintain good practice.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching quality, providing support and guidance to staff.
  • Plan and deliver effective systems for observation, assessment, and record-keeping to ensure positive outcomes for all children.
  • Keep up-to-date with best practices and policies in early years education.
  • Foster positive partnerships with parents, involving them in their child’s education and transitions.
  • Create a stimulating and safe environment both indoors and outdoors, promoting children’s independence and cooperation.
  • Collaborate with local under-fives facilities and other organizations to support children’s development.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience in developing and implementing the EYFS curriculum.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate staff, ensuring high standards of practice.
  • Understanding of the needs of children with SEND and experience in supporting their development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with relevant practices and policies.
  • Ability to work with initiative, confidentiality, and discretion in a demanding environment.

  • All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
