In a world increasingly challenged by environmental degradation, climate change, and complex emergencies, there is a growing need to mitigate risks and build resilience within communities. We are seeking a Disaster, Risk, and Resilience (DRR) & Emergencies Programme Manager to develop a comprehensive strategy for disaster risk reduction (DRR) and manage our client's emergencies programme.

While the role is classified as hybrid, offering flexibility for remote work, occasional in-person visits to our client's London office and international travel will be required. Standard working hours are 34.5 hours per week, with core hours between 10 am and 4 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Alignment with Organizational Strategy:
  • Co-design the DRR mainstreaming approach in alignment with our client's strategic plan.
  • Ensure that the emergencies programme aligns with our client's organizational strategy.
  • Advise on the alignment of our client's approach with relevant global frameworks and policies.

Strategy Development:

  • Develop a strategy paper on DRR for working animals and oversee its implementation.
  • Identify and operationalize criteria for emergency partner funding.
  • Contribute to our client's institution-wide Quality Framework with DRR and emergency response protocols.

Partnerships and Collaboration:

  • Identify partnerships within the humanitarian and development sectors to support working animal welfare.
  • Leverage One Health principles to develop strategic partnerships with humanitarian actors.
  • Support the localization of DRR mainstreaming and emergency programme strategy.
  • Technical Advisory and Capacity Building:
  • Provide technical advice on DRR and emergencies, linking them to working animal welfare.
  • Lead the development of guidance, protocols, and tools for DRR and emergency programming.
  • Support capacity development through training, mentoring, and coaching.

Requirements:

  • Degree in international development, disaster risk reduction, humanitarian relief, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in DRR and/or humanitarian response.
  • Familiarity with global, regional, and local DRR and humanitarian relief frameworks.
  • Proficiency in English (French desirable).
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
