Job Title: Mental Health Assessor

Overview:
Our client is seeking experienced Mental Health Assessors to carry out Mental Health Assessments, including capacity and eligibility evaluations, in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). The role involves conducting assessments, organizing visits, managing interactions with stakeholders, and producing clear and concise reports. This opportunity is primarily based in North Yorkshire, with potential travel to other locations as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Mental Health Assessments in compliance with MCA and DoLS requirements.
Organize and manage visits to individuals, professionals, family members, and carers.
Keep accurate records of assessment activities and report outcomes using the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) DoLS forms or other specified forms.
Submit completed reports by email within agreed timescales.
Adhere to safety and health standards in all assessment activities.
Respond to performance reviews and address any identified concerns.

Requirements:

Approval under section 12 of the Mental Health Act, or registered medical practitioner with at least three years of post-registration experience in diagnosing or treating mental disorders.
Experience in conducting assessments and liaising with clients, their families, and professionals.
Detailed knowledge of MCA, DoLS, and relevant case law.
Understanding of disability, ill health, and their impacts.
Completion of Royal College of Psychiatry DoLS e-Learning or equivalent, and DoLS-specific refresher training within the last 12 months.
Valid DBS certificate and professional indemnity insurance.
Ability to work safely and manage risks to oneself and others.

Additional Information:

The client will allocate assessments and provide necessary information, including type, location, and timescales.
Compensation rates will be agreed upon with the client and are inclusive of all costs.
No additional payment for holidays, bank holidays, or sickness.
Claim forms must be submitted for payment, which will be processed within 30 working days, subject to correct and complete information.
