Seven Resourcing are currently seeking a Director of Regeneration and Inclusive Growth to work for Darlington Council. This is a interim position and we are paying £1147.34 per day for this role. 

The role:

To be an effective member of the Council's Corporate Management Team and Senior Management Team, working closely with elected members to provide leadership, challenge and strategic direction across the full range of Council's services in accordance with the Council's values, vision, objectives, plans and priorities. To have specific responsibility for Corporate Services as detailed below. To lead on specific projects or policy issues, and to take on responsibility for other services and functions from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be an effective member of the Council's Corporate Management Team and Senior Management Team to provide strong leadership and management of the organisation.
  • As Director of Regeneration & Inclusive Growth and member of CMT, to proactively engage in the formal interface between Elected Members and Officers; take a leading role in relation to policy co-ordination and performance management; assist and advise Elected Members; and work closely with the relevant Cabinet portfolio member(s).
  • To effectively and actively promote internal and external partnerships through joint working, shared services, and joint planning to provide effective solutions and services for the residents of the borough.
  • To enhance and promote the reputation of the Council locally, regionally, nationally and attend regional and sub-regional meetings. To be an active advocate and ambassador of the Council.
  • Promote strong and effective employee engagement and maintain excellent employee relations.
  • Ensure effective corporate governance across the Council but particularly to ensure appropriate financial and service management of the functions for which you are specifically responsible.
  • To keep up to date with national, regional and local developments to ensure that you can effectively lead, advise and contribute to the Council's vision, priorities, objectives and plans.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: GCSEs A-C or equivalent including at least English and Maths. Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 
  • Compliance: Current Standard DBS check. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
