Research and development of innovative medicines is key to their continued success, together with an uncompromising commitment to quality and compliance through each stage of the development and commercialisation process. With a global manufacturing network of over 50 sites in 33 countries, the Engineering function plays a crucial role in meeting their commitments to patients by ensuring the availability, functionality and reliability of production equipment and facilities. They continually monitor manufacturing processes to enable current and future production in a safe, quality-driven and cost-effective manner.

Our client is now seeking a first-class Director of Engineering for their manufacturing site in NW England as a key part of their plans to further develop particular global product markets, inc. the US & Europe. Leading the site Engineering team, you will take responsibility for all aspects of engineering, maintenance and facilities in supporting manufacturing operations, as a key member of the site senior leadership team. Your strategic responsibilities will include building a site Engineering Master Plan to provide the engineering roadmap for the next 5 years.

You will be an experienced pharmaceutical Engineering Quality professional with a demonstrable track record of effective leadership in similar manufacturing settings. Your experience will include GEP, facilities, utilities, process controls, relevant EHS as well as in the use of OPEX tools & principles, in the production of sterile products. Key Deliverables:

  • Leadership - drive team performance to deliver against the site Engineering & Operations Plans.
  • People development - deliver critical Engineering capabilities by creating a high calibre talent pool
  • As part of the site SLT, work closely with the site GM to deliver the Sterile Operations Strategy
  • Lead your team in delivering against Engineering metrics, across production and packaging functions
  • Develop partnership-led relationships with the range of teams on site,supporting a single team culture
  • Manage risk, pro-actively plan and co-ordinate the achievement of site production and engineering KPI’s
  • Taking a holistic view of the business, create and execute an integrated Engineering Master Plan
  • Continually review Engineering processes and practices to reduce complexity and improve efficiency
  • Build strong and effective relationships with colleagues, external partners and suppliers

Candidate Profile:

  • A suitably qualified pharmaceutical Engineering Director with relevant pharma manufacturing experience
  • Broad experience across production & packaging, maintenance, facilities and utilities.
  • Excellent leadership credentials, can lead and develop large, high performing specialist teams
  • Experience of the effective delivery of facilities within modern pharma (steriles) manufacturing settings
  • Relevant education in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical etc, and/or Chemistry, Biochem etc
  • An engaging, determined and impactful senior Engineering professional, ready for their next challenge
