The Company:
Nigel Wright are delighted to be working exclusively with a National Membership Association based in Durham.  The organisation is a professional charity that supports academic events, networking, publications and conferences across the UK. They are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled Communications Specialist to create and co-ordinate internal and external communications.

This is a really exciting time for someone to join this academic subject association to develop and shape their communication and marketing activities. The person appointed will play a pivotal role in refining and amplifying the distinctive voice of the organisation, not least in pursuit of their current goal of enhancing communication and engagement with their members. 

The Role:
•    Develop and implement a comprehensive digital communication strategy tailored to engage diverse audiences.
•    Craft clear and compelling messages that resonate with the unique perspectives and interests of the membership.
•    Produce written materials that effectively convey the organisation's mission and objectives to policymakers, academics, and the public.
•    Utilise design and layout skills to visually enhance digital communications.

Immediate Tasks

•    Working with the CEO and Technology and Digital Platforms Officer, condense down and improve web content ready for next iteration of website.
•    Working with CEO, other senior management team staff and trustees, write a report on the past five years’ of the Association to be shared with the members and public.

The Person:
•    An educational background which includes sociology would be highly desirable.
•    An understanding of academia is preferred but not essential.
•    Degree in a marketing/communications-related field or equivalent experience.
•    Strong copywriting and content creation skills.
•    An adaptable self-starter that is able to prioritise effectively and work within a small team.
•    Someone that can handle sensitive data and tailor messages to a specific audience.
•    Someone that has an excellent grasp of written and spoken English. 
•    Someone able to make recommendations and change processes to enhance the organisation.
