If you’re a professional chef who loves creating new dishes, yet wants to enjoy life outside of the crazy hours of being a restaurant chef this could be the answer for you!

What you’ll be doing:

As Development chef, you will focus on improving existing recipes & delivering innovation, providing creative food leadership and you will be pushing the boundaries of conventional food development to deliver fabulous products.

You will work closely with NPD and Sales to ensure that customer requirements are met whilst making sure that technical and production requirements are a key consideration in achieving this.

Develop new and existing recipes, in the development kitchen, delivering products of consistent quality and taste
Develop and input recipes onto the recipe management system to assess the food cost and nutritional information ensuring delivery against the brief
Complete tests to conduct recipe validation tests for all products following the product development procedures to ensure all products are of repeatable and sustainability quality before handover e.g viscosity, weight, yield tests
Prepare samples, set up and deliver professional internal and external product panels as required
Follow critical path time lines as directed, escalating incomplete tasks and deficiencies in testing, to ensure that action can be taken to prevent delays in product acceptance and launch
Attend trials, provide samples and attend first production to ensure samples match the recipe version signed off by the customer
Identify market niches and opportunities into which existing products could be adapted and new products developed

What we’re looking for:

You will have a real passion for food and possess a creative mind-set to channel your imagination
Ideally you will have advanced through the ranks as a career chef within the restaurant trade before moving into food manufacturing and gaining experience in product development and food technology
Organisation, recipe accuracy and ability to plan your workload are key
Communication and relationship management are vitally important as are strong presentation skills
Ability to understand the commercial side to cooking so you’ll be able to cost and replicate recipes
