Teacher/Instructor of General Subjects and Design Technology
  • Location: Heathfield, East Sussex
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: Qualified Teacher: MPS 1-6 / UPS 1-3 (FTE £30,000 to £46,525) + SEN allowance (FTE £2,539) or Unqualified Teacher: UQT 1-6 (FTE £20,598 to £32,134) + SEN allowance (FTE £2,000)

St Mary’s School, part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, is a ‘Good’ special school seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, and effective practitioner to lead Food and Nutrition. This role is ideal for someone with empathy towards children with SEN, particularly SEMH, and who is experienced in delivering an exciting and innovative curriculum.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the planning and support the delivery of all lessons involving food across the school.
  • Develop and implement an engaging curriculum for DT and General Subjects.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively within a dedicated team to support the personalised curriculum and improve outcomes for all learners.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching or a strong willingness to develop skills in Food Technology and General Subjects.
  • Empathy and understanding towards children with SEN, particularly SEMH.
  • Ability to deliver an innovative and sensitive curriculum.
  • Commitment to professional development and collaboration within a team.
  • Experience in Special Education is advantageous but not essential.
