Our client is a rapidly growing contractor that have multiple design and build steel frame residential projects in Birmingham. They are looking for Design managers to join their dynamic team and be part of their continued success in delivering for their clients.

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Freelance Construction Design Manager to join the team on a project in Birmingham city centre. As a Construction Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and construction processes of the steel frame residential project, ensuring it is delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design and construction phases of the project, from initial concept through to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers and subcontractors to develop detailed construction plans and schedules, and oversee their implementation.
  • Identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Review design proposals and construction drawings for compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to optimize construction processes and ensure timely delivery of materials and resources.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in design management, with a focus on steel frame residential projects, ideally within the design and build sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes related to steel frame construction.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work on a freelance basis, with availability to work on projects in Birmingham as required.
