Are you an enthusiastic, talented Design Engineer passionate about innovation and design?

Our client, part of a billion euro global group, is seeking a motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for their office in Durham. This role is ideal for a Mechanical Design Engineer eager to expand their skills in structural masonry rehabilitation.

Join our client in a diverse, hands-on role, dealing with structures ranging from 1 to 500 years old and contributing to their market-leading stainless steel construction accessories.

Key Responsibilities for The Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Project manage multiple design activities from customer specification to site
  • Use AutoCAD, design bespoke, structural steel products to customer specifications, considering manufacturability, structural strength requirements and current regulations.
  • Liaise regularly with end user, architects, engineers and builders merchants to identify site requirements to provide a quotation, design and develop bespoke steel products.
  • Engage in new product development from concept generation through to batch production considering competitors product range, on site installation, CAD, prototyping, product launch and post launch support.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering, design or the built environment
  • Familiar with Tekla Structures (or similar)
  • AutoCAD or other 2D design package
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office packages
