Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting one of the UK’s largest port groups in the appointment of a Design Draughtsperson. You will play a crucial role in the Engineering department to transform engineering designs and plans into detailed technical drawings, BOM and site instructions. You will work closely with engineers to ensure that designs are accurate and compliant with company standard, third party and client requirements, and statutory and legal regulations.

The role is full time and permanent, and you with be office based with occasional site inspections required.

Responsibilities of the Design Draughtsperson:

  • Create detailed drawings, plans and schematics using CAD software including AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and similar tools.
  • Assist and support engineers in developing structural design, layouts and construction plans.
  • Review designs and make necessary modifications following feedback and engineering requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation throughout projects and set up and maintain a drawing register to track and manage all project drawings effectively.
  • Manage and maintain drawing management systems such as Autodesk Vault to organise control and distribute project drawings efficiently.
  • Ensure smooth project execution through collaboration with multi-discipline teams.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards and trends, software advancements and best practices in civil and structural drafting.

Requirements of Design Draughtsperson:

  • Proficiency in CAD software, including AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and similar tools.
  • HNC, HND or Degree in civil, structural or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong draughting experience and understand of engineering principles and construction techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Previous civil or draughting experience in civil/structural industry preferred.
