ROLE- Design Applications Engineer

LOCATION- Oxford

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £35,000-£45,000

My client manufactures fabricated components for different engineering sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design/Applications Engineer, on a permanent basis, in the Oxford area.

The Design Engineer / Applications Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Qualified in Mechanical Engineering – Degree / BTEC/ ONC/ HNC/ HND / Apprenticeship or a similar subject
  • Be proficient in creating CAD drawings (previous experience using SolidWorks or similar)
  • Be happy to work directly with customers in relation to required quotations
  • Be able to use hands tools and have a good mechanical aptitude
  • Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a team
  • Have excellent communication skill both verbal and written
The Design Engineer / Applications Engineer role will involve:

  • Working on project specifications – creating CAD drawings and preparing cost estimates working off customer requirements
  • Writing quotes and other technical details
  • Using in house software and quoting tools
  • Meeting with customers via Teams and also in person and delivering proposals
  • Explain the systems and designs in a clear and concise manner
  • Helping to define project schedules
  • Using SolidWorks to produce 3D models and 2D drawings; reading, creating and amending drawings
  • Being involved in testing completed systems
  • Being involved in quality reviews with Workshop Technicians
  • Have a good appreciation for using hand tools and basic fabrication methods
  • Working closely with other members of the engineering team
