Design and Technology Assistant / DT Technician with a background in Design & Technology or related field, with good practical skills or some prior experience with any relevant tools and equipment, is required for a well-established Academy Trust based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.

Ideally candidates will have experience of working within a school Art or DT department (or similar)

SALARY: £23,115 - £24,140 FTE / Actual salary £14,869 + Benefits

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire (SO30)

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 27.75 hours per week, 8.00am - 1.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am - 3.45pm Fridays, term time only (39 Weeks)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Design and Technology Assistant / DT Technician with a background in Design & Technology or related field, with good practical skills or some prior experience with any relevant tools and equipment.

Working as the Design and Technology Assistant / DT Technician you will play a vital part in supporting the delivery of the Design & Technology curriculum by preparing, setting up and maintaining a wide range of equipment and materials for practical lessons.

As the Design and Technology Assistant / DT Technician you will be responsible for supporting teachers and students in the workshop environment, ensuring a safe and productive learning space.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Design and Technology Assistant / DT Technician will include:

  • Preparing, setting up and maintaining a wide range of equipment and materials for practical lessons
  • Supporting teachers and students in the workshop environment, ensuring a safe and productive learning space
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of engaging and practical learning activities
  • Maintaining and repairing equipment, ensuring it is in good working order
  • Ordering and keeping stock of resources
  • Contributing to the overall organisation and smooth running of the Design & Technology department

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ideally a background in Design & Technology or any related field
  • Possesses practical skills
  • Prior experience with any relevant tools and equipment
  • Enthusiastic manner
  • Excellent communication skill
