Sanctuary Personnel, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency with a TrustPilot score of 4.9/5 and over 600+ reviews has a locum vacancy available for a Dental Officer, to maintain and promote the oral health of the local population by providing a comprehensive dental service to Falkland Islands residents and to contribute to the Island’s economy by providing emergency dental services to fishing fleet and visitors.

Location: Falkland Islands

Team: Health & Social Services (Dental Services)

Pay rate (Assignment rate): £60 per hour

Contract Length: 3-Months/Ongoing

Main accountabilities:

  • To provide a full range of general dental services, within the available resources, to maintain community oral health.
  • To provide an emergency dental service, both in and out of hours, to local residents and foreign visitors, including fishermen, and to participate in reciprocal emergency cover arrangements with the dental officers at the MPA Medical Centre as required.
  • To participate in school screening programmes.
  • To participate in the organization and day to day running of the dental department, in order to promote continuous improvement and efficiency in the service and its subsequent implementation.
  • To supervise those staff working directly with the dental officer i.e. burse, hygienist in respect of the care provided to individual patients.

Requirements of the Dental Officer:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery
  • Registration with the UK General Dental Council or recognised international equivalent
  • At least 2 years as a General Dental Practitioner or equivalent
  • Experience of fixed appliance orthodontics
  • Experience of supervising other dental staff
  • Able to fulfil the requirements to keep accurate and legible patient notes both on paper and computer
