DCASO Instructor

We are seeking an experienced Air Traffic Control Trainer to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for training and developing future Air Operations (Control) personnel, ensuring they are fully prepared for Terminal ATC duties.

• Train ab-initio Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, and Foreign & Commonwealth military trainees for Terminal ATC duties using classroom and simulator facilities.
• Provide refresher training for controllers who have been away from the Terminal environment for an extended period.
• Deliver training and assess performances in the classroom and simulator.
• Produce written reports with associated gradings and narratives to reflect trainees’ performances.
• Provide training to the standard required by the Officer Commanding Air Traffic Control Training Squadron.
• Act in accordance with the RAF Shawbury Supervisory Care Directive.

• Previous military Terminal controlling experience, ideally within the last 5 years.
• Qualified in accordance with JSP 822.
• Ability to provide training in accordance with the DCASO Training Quality Manual.
• Commitment to maintaining and contributing to a positive learning environment which develops the confidence of all trainees.

• Defence Train Course.
• Recent experience of providing Terminal Air Traffic Services in UK airspace under the Military Aviation Authority 3000 Series Regulations.
• Recent trainer experience in an ATC training environment that is deemed acceptable to the customer.
