This is a great opportunity to join one of the leading independent schools in the UK as Uppingham continues to invest in its matron provision across its boarding and day Houses. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the founding of the school’s first day House and help to shape the culture and ethos of this new House.

House Matrons play a pivotal role within the school, and we are seeking experienced pastoral professionals to work alongside our house teams to deliver excellent care to our pupils aged 13-18, ensuring they settle into school and house routines, feel happy and content and have their welfare needs met.

The day House is central to life at Uppingham School and the matrons play a crucial role within this House. Any Uppingham House is very much an extended home and each aims to represent a full spectrum of the personalities, characters and talent found across the school. A matron seeks to bring out the best in each pupil and ensure that they are treated as an individual within the House.

The role also requires confidence with IT-based admin and strong communication skills to successfully deliver pastoral care to our pupils.

If you enjoy working as part of a team and can combine efficiency with friendliness and a genuine care for the welfare of our pupils, we would be delighted to hear from you. Experience in a care-based industry and/or working with young people is desirable.
