Data Protection Manager - London

A top-tier legal firm is currently looking for a Data Protection Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant regulations by implementing data protection measures. They will work closely with the Risk Director and Data Compliance Officer and be based out of one of the offices in Swindon, Oxford and Bath. Job Responsibilities:

• Ongoing updates and monitoring of the firm's policies and procedures.
• Managing Subject Access Requests and other data requests.
• Creating data protection impact assessments.
• Managing the ongoing appointment of the EU Data Representative and the annual renewal of that service.
• Advising the firm on the data protection/PECR implications of new business initiatives and general queries.
• Managing and maintaining the firm's Register of Processing Activities ("Data Map") and risk assessments.
• Advising on reported data breaches.
• Identifying opportunities to enhance the protection of sensitive/higher-risk data and reduce data breaches.
• Identifying trends in data breaches, bringing serious issues to the attention of the Data Compliance Officer.
• Keeping up to date with changes to domestic and international data protection laws and updating policies accordingly.
• Leading the creation and delivery of data protection training and regular communications for all staff members on an ad hoc basis as required.

Experience required::

• Three years' experience managing data protection compliance.
• Strong knowledge of data protection laws in the UK.
• Experience managing data subject access requests.
• Experience writing data focused policies and procedures.
• Experience advising on data protection breaches and issues.

Desirables:

• Good knowledge of international data protection laws for overseas sharing and data transfers.
• Degree - level education or equivalent.
• Previous experience working at a law firm specifically in the risk and compliance function.
