Are you someone who is passionate about promoting the value of PRE to students? Are you able to inspire students to a love of your subject whilst also maintaining the highest expectations for academic achievement? Are you able to lead and manage with high standards of integrity and organisation? If so, we would be thrilled to hear from you.

We are supporting a good coeducation secondary school with sixth form who is seeking an expert Curriculum Leader for Philosophy, Religion and Ethics (PRE). They are looking for an individual who can build on the excellent work of the current postholder who is relocating to a different part of the UK. Over the past five years, PRE has become one of the most successful and respected subjects in the school, studied by all students with a thriving KS4 cohort in both GCSE short course (to Year 10) and full course Religious Studies. They expect that the successful candidate will be interested in developing our A-Level offer in either Religious Studies or Philosophy.

They are committed to developing excellence in teaching and learning, underpinned by research evidence and the principles of cognitive science. They believe in working collaboratively to develop a high-quality centralised curriculum to ensure all students have a consistently excellent learning experience and the best possible chance of success, as well as ensuring a manageable workload for staff. If you have the knowledge, skills and desire required to excel in this role, we would love to have you as part of our staff team.

The school have nearly 1100 students on roll, including a successful and growing Sixth Form. Our staff tell us they genuinely feel like part of a team; a team who are striving to help each student flourish both academically and personally.

Excerpts from their pleasing 2022 Ofsted inspection include:

  • Students told inspectors that the clear and fair behaviour system helps them to behave well.
  • Relationships between staff and students are strong.
  • Students’ conduct around the school is orderly and calm.
  • Pastoral care puts the child at the heart of everything the school does.

They can offer you:

  • Students who are a pleasure to work with
  • An experienced, friendly, and collaborative team of staff
  • The unwavering support of teachers and leaders in ensuring the highest possible standards of student behaviour.
  • A highly visible leadership team who will help to guide your development and ensure that you are fully supported in every aspect of your work
  • An academy that puts wellbeing at the top of our priorities, with:
  • A centralised and collaboratively planned curriculum
  • A strong culture of communication with no emails in the evenings, at weekends or during school holidays
  • A flexible PPA that you can take at home every fortnight
  • A two-week October half term
  • Online Parents’ Evenings that you can join from home
  • Free access to our own fully-fitted gym (subject to opening hours)
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Career Development Bursary Scheme.

They would be delighted to invite prospective applicants to visit the school and experience first-hand what makes us a great place to work. Please note, closing date for applications is 9am on 6 May 2024 and interviews will take place on 14 May 2024.
