This charity values it staff, as shown by their ‘investors in people’ and ‘best companies to work for’ awards. You will be making a huge difference to people in prison as well as those recently released, so they have the support they need to successfully re-settle into society.

The role would suit a criminology graduate with some experience of working with vulnerable clients or ideally ex-offenders. We have 6 vacancies in total, based in probation trusts in the following locations (with 2 being part time):

  • Wandsworth
  • Hornchurch
  • Camden / Islington (part time 2 days per week)
  • Wandsworth (part time 3 days per week)
  • Lewisham
  • Haringey

You will be managing a caseload of around 50 clients based working out of a probation trust (on behalf of the charity).  The main function of the role is to support the ex-offenders to be able to successfully resettle after release.  You will have regular one to ones with your clients.  Typically each session will cover employability measure and support measures.  An employability measure could be helping them to write a CV, prepare a cover letter, write a disclosure letter, interview preparation and job searching.  A support measure could be signposting them to a housing provider, debt management support or an educational programme.

Please note, whilst this is a permanent role, the contract is currently being re-tendered.  So, if the charity is not awarded the contract, you might be tupe transferred to the provider that has won the contract (but this is not guaranteed).

Please apply via this advert – everyone gets a response.  If you would like to find out more, feel free to call the office and ask for Lawrence (number on the Red 5 People website).  If you do get a response to say we don’t feel your CV is the right match for what the client is looking for,  the email details how you can get extra feedback / talk to a real person.

To apply, you must have some experience of working with vulnerable clients (either paid or voluntary), ideally those within criminal justice.
