Credit Controller - £27,000 - £29,000 PA - Edgbaston, Birmingham

Hamilton Woods are currently working with a leading wholesale electrical distributer based in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This is a varied role, suited to someone with strong communication skills and ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external customers.

Responsible for effective and efficient management / monitoring of a portfolio ledger comprising of up to 300 complex National accounts with a total debt of up to £11m. Minimising aged debt and maximising cash collection using both EDI and standard trading platforms whilst developing good working relationships with internal and external customers via phone and email.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective control of Customers by monitoring shortfalls and taking appropriate action.
  • Collect payments according to agreed terms, achieve cash collection targets and resolve and minimise overdue debts.
  • Ensure all customer requirements are fulfilled and delivered on time in line with the SLA and KPI.
  • Monitor large commercial queries ensuring that item(s) are progressed and resolved in timely manner.
  • Escalate any serious concerns accordingly to the Collection Support Specialist.
  • Review payment plans when requested.
  • Place customers on credit hold where necessary.
  • Regular review calls and some face to face meetings with customers.
  • Review accounts for legal action.
  • Review order release requests.
  • Utilise Sidetrade to ensure account portfolio is managed effectively ensuring To Do Lists are actioned daily and all activity logged to include invoice qualification.
  • Ensure emails are actioned in a timely manner and customer account information is accurate and regularly updated with digital contacts at every opportunity.
  • Ensure overtrading is monitored and appropriate actions taken.
  • Complete monthly cash forecast and pre-call on all high value amounts above agreed threshold.

Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years' experience in Credit Control managing complex National accounts.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of building effective, long term relationships.
  • Enjoys interaction with internal and external customer focus.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Intermidate/advanced experience of Excel, V-lookups, pivot tables is essential.
  • COUPA portal experience.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads in a fast paced environment.
