Job Title: Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN)
Employment Type: Part-Time, Remote
Band: 6
Location: West Birmingham area
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (flexible hours between 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week)

Pay Rate: £24.50PH to £26PH dependant on experience

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in the West Birmingham area. The CPN will primarily work remotely but will also engage in community visits as necessary to provide essential mental health care and support to patients. This role requires exceptional communication skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of individuals in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct remote assessments of patients' mental health needs, including risk assessments and formulation of care plans.
  2. Provide evidence-based interventions and therapeutic support to patients via remote platforms, telephone, and in-person visits.
  3. Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
  4. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans accordingly.
  5. Offer advice, guidance, and support to patients' families and carers, promoting their involvement in the care process.
  6. Facilitate access to additional support services and community resources to enhance patients' recovery and social integration.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  8. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuing professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  9. Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, and legal frameworks, including safeguarding protocols and confidentiality guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Post-registration qualification in mental health nursing (RMN).
  • Significant experience working as a CPN or in a similar mental health nursing role within the community setting.
  • Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and care planning skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage own caseload.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Proficient in the use of digital technology for remote consultations and record-keeping.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines governing mental health practice.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
