I am working with Kirkby High School (L32 9PP) to find them a permanent Cover Supervisor to supervise whole classes for absent teachers.

You'll work in a team of Cover Supervisors and be attached to one teaching department.

This role would suit an adaptable person with an energy and enthusiasm for working with children.

When you start, you'll be given a structured induction and the opportunity to shadow others before you take on a full class.

From there you'll be supported by your team and department. Behaviour across the school is good with a comprehensive behaviour management policy.

Important Details:

  • Actual salary is £23,372 - £25,450.
  • Working 46 weeks per year.
  • SCP 12-17, Pay Grade F.
  • 36 hours per week / 46 weeks per year (includes 5 inset days and a workback element).
  • Monday 8.00am-4.30pm and Tuesday to Friday 8.00-3.30pm.
  • No working from home.

Duties of the Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise whole classes, ensuring students behave and stay focused.
  • Answer questions and help students with their tasks.
  • Follow the instructions of senior staff and assist with classroom activities and planning.
  • Help set up learning activities and prepare materials, including specialised ones.
  • Ensure all students can participate and learn.

The Cover Supervisor Must Have /Be:

  • Have GCSE or equivalent at grade C in English and maths.
  • Previous experience of working with children.
  • Excellent spoken English.
  • The ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • A high degree of organisation.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team.
  • A willingness to undergo further training.
  • An understanding of confidentiality.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality records.
  • IT skills.
  • Be passionate about supporting education.
  • Energy and enthusiasm.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a busy educational environment.
  • Have a working knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Have the ability to relate to children and young people.
  • Be able to inspire, influence, challenge and motivate, leading by example.
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK.

An Advantage but not Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification.
