General Cover Supervisor - Portsmouth

At Engage, we’re working with a school in Portsmouth to recruit a full-time cover supervisor that can join the team in its commitment to improving the attainment of all pupils. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit team and make a real difference to the lives of your pupils.

About the role

You will be leading lessons and covering in the absence of class teachers for varying subjects at a school in Portsmouth to start as soon as possible. You will receive training provided by the school and Engage Education, and will be a part of a close and dynamic team. This role has very little planning and marking. The school is supportive and accessible by public transport. They focus on ensuring that students are taught a broad and balanced curriculum as well as ensuring that they leave with an array of skills to help them in their adult lives.

About you

  • Experience working with students aged 11-16

  • Flexibility to work in different subjects

  • Confident managing behaviour

  • An ability to build rapport with students

  • Have a fun but firm presence

  • An interest in education

We welcome applications from candidates with any level of experience, although previous experience of working with students with challenging behaviour will be an advantage. If you are an aspiring teacher, or an experience cover supervisor looking for a position, this opportunity could be ideal for you. This role could also suit a candidate with experience of working as a Youth Worker or Behaviour Mentor.
