We have an exciting new job opportunity for a Court Usher to join one of our government clients, based in Isleworth, West London. This is a full-time temporary role for an ongoing 12 months with a view to extending the contract further.
The Court Usher acts as an essential first point of contact for all the court users involved in hearings. There will be regular contact with the judiciary, assisting the administrative staff with the smooth flow of court work. You will meet members of the public and their legal representatives; prepare court /hearing rooms, and complete documentation, as well as ensuring the court runs smoothly and efficiently.

Duties will include:
¢ Check email communication
¢ Attend and participate in daily team meeting
¢ Liaison with Judges - collection and delivery of court files and bundles for the clerks and judiciary - retrieval of files from storage in readiness for court
¢ Opening and sorting post
¢ Supporting the office prior to commencement of court - to include tasks such as photocopying, filing, scanning, sending correspondence
¢ Supporting Judiciary around the sitting times of court
¢ Preparation of Justices' room
¢ Operating recording equipment and CICP in the court room
¢ Maintaining the Xhibit log (electronically) in the absence of a court clerk
¢ Attend to customer enquiries (phone and in person)
¢ Undertake work allocated - admin support
¢ Preparing the court room for hearings, in advance of the start time ensure court is tidy and water is replenished for all court users.
¢ Check court equipment in advance of the hearing and report any fault with relevant service supplier.
¢ Receiving parties for court and liaison with parties to ensure delivered to court for hearing
¢ Liaison with cells regarding cases in specific court allocated to.
¢ Liaison with court clerk and judiciary with regard to hearings
¢ Supporting the jury office by taking responsibility for the jurors in court, ensuring effective communication with jurors and liaison with judges regarding jury issues.
¢ Liaison with witness service regarding any cases with witnesses to ensure objective is met around compliance with witness charter and victims code of conduct.

Skills required:
" 2 GCSEs at Grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications
" Have experience of working with the public in a busy public service environment
" Ability to use a computer at the level required for the work.
" Must have good organisational skills and able to communicate effectively
" Good attention to detail

Salary: £10.57 - £12.56 (with benefits of pension scheme and holiday.
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00 however some days you may finish at 4/4:30pm
An DBS check is needed for this vacancy which we will carry out if you're successful for this position and 3 years employment/education history will need to be provided
