A Corporate Tax Specialist is being recruited for our large, international Poole based client.

As Corporate Tax Specialist, you would be reporting to the Tax Manager and working as part of a very small team covering tax affairs for approx 25 entities across the UK and Ireland. Areas of tax you can be expected to get involved with would be:

  • Corporation tax compliance - collating data for and preparation of corporation tax returns of all UK and Irish companies, liaising with tax advisors and accounting partner.
  • Tax audits - dealing with tax queries, building good relationships with tax authority contacts to minimise the risk of tax audits
  • Corporation tax payments - ensuring payments on account are calculated and paid on time
  • Tax accounting - review of tax journals and group tax submissions on a monthly and quarterly basis. Maintenance and roll-over of tax journal workings pro formas. Acting as point of contact with Tax Compliance Management in case of queries.
  • Short term business visitor monitoring - collating data, end of tax year reporting to HMRC
  • VAT troubleshooting - answering queries of VAT and providing expertise to projects, acting as tax expert for VAT audits.
  • Transfer pricing - assisting with monitoring and change requests
  • Employer tax compliance - investigating and answering queries from the business and other internal stakeholders
  • PAYE Settlement Agreements - ensuring PSAs are in place for all companies for the start of each tax year, collation of PSA data, calculation of tax and NIC due and ensuring payment is made on time.
  • Occasional travel away from home.


You will need to have at least 4 years tax accounting experience from an in-house commercial environment and good knowledge of corporation tax and VAT. Ideally a Tax or Accounting qualification (ATT/CTA), part qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or Qualified by Experience. Working knowledge of ERP systems and tax software such as Alphatax would be desirable but attention to detail and strong Excel is essential.
