Location icon London , South East England

When the largest firms use debt to fund large-scale construction and infrastructure projects, their lenders engage the services of this global insurance broker’s professional consulting service; the Structured Finance Practice.

This UK based team’s clientele is global, and over 80% of the projects funded are based overseas - power plants, hospitals, motorways, dams, bridges, airports and the like - in over 80 countries. This team is by far the largest of its kind within the industry, and it is well-renowned for, "excelling in the technicality of corporate insurance."

As a result of impressive year on year growth within this booming sector, our client has a need for an additional Lenders Insurance Advisor to join its specialist team.

Working with the lenders and their other advisory partners (financial, technical, and legal), you will ensure that they understand the insurable project risks and help them to secure an acceptable insurance programme. You’ll be responsible for reviewing the specific risks of a project, the proposed risk treatment, and the insurance/ reinsurance programmes to be placed. This will include providing commentary to the lender on changes or improvements required, as well as negotiating enhancements or additions to the existing policies on the behalf of lenders. Once the funding is secured, this team continues to monitor and audit the insurance to ensure compliance with the loan requirements, ensuring that the interests of the debt providers are protected.

The team has over 600 live engagements/ transactions at any one time, and you’ll be involved with some truly fascinating projects including, but certainly not limited to, Renewable Energy, Real Estate, NewHydrogen, Carbon Capture and Nuclear Power, as well as new technologies across a wide range of industry sectors.

Our client is flexible in terms of applicants’ experience. Preferably (because of the nature of the projects), they would like an insurance professional from either a Construction, Energy or Power background, and they will consider candidates from broking, underwriting or claims, as well as those from a consulting or legal background. In fact, the team has a number of ex-Lawyers, who wanted to transition into the exciting world of corporate insurance.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested and curious about the projects this company is working on, and who wants to understand more about their mechanics, the asset features and key potential risks. It’s crucial that you are detail-orientated, technically-minded and solutions-focused, with the ability to identify exposures to risk. Just as importantly, you’ll be a confident operator who is able to liaise and negotiate effectively with senior stakeholders. You must be able to understand contractual language, risk/ insurance issues, with the ability to relay your conclusions using precise client friendly language. It’s essential that you have a strong command of the English language and first-class communication skills, both written and verbal.

This is a uniquely interesting role within a very supportive team, where you will develop your communication skills and insurance knowledge. Given the size, scope and growth of this global organisation, there are endless opportunities for career advancement, both within this team and across the wider group.

Our client operates a hybrid-working arrangement, and being a results-based business, is very flexible when it comes to you managing your own diary.

We anticipate that this role pays up to circa £90K, but there is scope for outstanding, experienced candidates to receive in excess of this. We also welcome applications from candidates with less experience as we may soon be appointed to a more junior role, in line with the company’s strategic growth plans. You’ll also have access to one of the best corporate benefits packages in the market, which includes a generous annual bonus and substantial pension contributions.
