Corporate Governance Manager

Based: Somerset (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 months initially

Responsibilities include

  • To work closely with the Head of Corporate Governance, ensuring the Board and Council of Governors is kept abreast of all related matters and all responses are timely and of excellent quality, demonstrating expertise and knowledge of the wider organisation and ensuring consistency and alignment between Board and Strategic Leadership Team priorities
  • To coordinate and schedule the running of the organisation's Council of Governors governance activities
  • To organise and manage, in consultation with the relevant senior stakeholders, the Council of Governors annual programme of meetings and its working groups
  • To attend and act as secretary to meetings as required, taking minutes, and ensuring decisions and actions are followed up with relevant stakeholders
  • To ensure effective governance of the Council and ensure it fulfils its legal and regulatory obligations and follows best governance practices by providing high-level support and advice to the Board and Chair on their governance responsibilities
  • To maintain and develop the Trust policies
  • To write papers for the Board Committees
  • To engage with external agencies, regulatory bodies and sector peers to ensure the organisation keeps up to date on and influences corporate and governance matters, best practices and trends

Essential Experience

  • Relevant experience within the public sector (ideally NHS)
  • Knowledge of the statutory and regulatory environment for the NHS and sound knowledge of corporate governance
  • Experience in administering Board meetings and producing high quality minute
