Reed Hospitality is seeking a Catering Manager to lead our catering team at one of the UK's top food companies. As a Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the catering department, ensuring high standards of quality, safety and customer satisfaction. You will also be involved in menu planning, budgeting, staff training and development, and liaising with clients and suppliers. You will have previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the food manufacturing sector, and a relevant qualification in catering or hospitality management. You will also have excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills, and a strong work ethic. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Overall Purpose of the Role

  • To effectively manage within budgetary constraints.
  • Conform to client and company specification.
  • To continuously develop and improve menu, food & beverage service offer, food quality and hygiene standards to achieve KPI targets.
  • To have knowledge of changes in legislation affecting the catering industry.
  • To meet the client and company expectations.
  • To respond to any reasonable request of the company or client.
  • To recruit, train, develop and motivate staff.
  • To ensure that adequate products, equipment and materials are properly stored, used, maintained and controlled.
  • To provide high quality product at all times to the client.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Role

  • To prepare, cook and serve all food requirements for the staff canteen facility and client hospitality requirements in compliance with food hygiene legislation and company policy and process.
  • To support the Catering Manager in the stock ordering process ensuring sufficient stock to meet the demands of the business.
  • Maintain positive staff attitudes and team spirit.
  • To continuously train and develop skills.
  • Maintain all records in line with legislation and company policy.
  • To order all stock, complete stock counting, cash handling and maintain company bookwork.
  • Ensure compliance at all times with legal requirements such as Food Hygiene legislation, Health & Safety at Work, display of all necessary notices, accidents reporting and first aid.
  • Carry out on the job training in such areas as Food Safety, Health & Safety, Customer Service in liaison with the Catering Manager, Regional Operations Manager and HR Department.

Personal Characteristics/Attributes

  • Must be a competent and experienced chef able to demonstrate flair and imagination.
  • Must have a firm grasp of food hygiene, health & safety and cost control/GP margin achievement.
  • Should be a good motivator.
  • Able to react quickly to changing situations.

Working Pattern:

Hours of work 7am – 3pm, Tues, Wed & Thurs and 7am – 12.30pm on Friday.
