Our client is a leading insurance group who help protect industries around the world from the risks they face. They are now looking for a Controls and Operations Analyst.  Supporting the CDA Manager, you’ll be monitoring, maintaining, and improving internal controls framework in accordance with management and regulatory requirements.  Improving operational effectiveness and efficiency through the delivery of best practice process standards and continuous key process improvement.  The role will require one day per week from their London offices.

Controls and Operations Analyst – Responsibilities

- Participate in risk-based scoping, mapping, documentation, control evaluations, gap remediation and regular testing as part of the internal control and data quality (DQ) framework.

- Ensure key controls are designed and operating effectively throughout the year. 

- Work with the business areas to identify new and changed processes impacting compliance / consult over new processes to be implemented, and ensure that new controls and datasets are identified, documented, and evaluated.

- Maintain the process framework (comprising of a central process library with departmental process maps, procedures, and policies, together with cycle documentation detailing key cross departmental data flows & controls.

- Support and enable improvement initiatives fostering and delivering continual improvement.

- Prepare reporting to key audiences, including Governance committees, based on each period’s self-assessments and KPI’s, communicating areas of concern, improvements, and changes to control and data frameworks.

- Support the team performing governance activities for the Sourcing function and monitoring of SLAs.

- To collate, review, maintain and update as required, key process timetables detailing multi-departmental activities across the business, to enable timely delivery of external reports and returns.

Controls and Operations Analyst – Required Skills

- Professional experience in a controls / regulatory / audit led role.

- Insurance & Lloyds Market experience is desired.

- Financial Services experience in Auditing or accounting or controls / process experience.

- Highly developed numerical skills with an advanced knowledge of MS Excel.

- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and Solvency II, financial reporting is desired.

- Knowledge of IT controls and best practices preferred.

- Intermediate knowledge of MS Visio and experience of process mapping.

- Experience in evaluating processes and systems for SOX, Data Quality for Solvency II and / or Operational risk.

- ACA / ACCA/ CPA or Audit qualification is desired.
