An exciting and rewarding Contracts and Procurement Officer position is now available with Bury Council on an initial 6-month temporary contract.

What is the role?

Bury Council are now looking to appoint an experienced Contracts and Procurement Officer to support an established team within Children’s Services.

The primary responsibilities are to achieve strong outcomes from existing contracts for children with disabilities.

This team works with providers to commission a range of services, including respite care, term time and holiday activities, and support access for service users.

How will you do this?

  • Help ensure Children’s Services undertakes robust procurement activity, evidence transparency, value for money, and commissions high quality services.
  • Develop and issue contracts and tender documentation. Negotiate fees, contracts, and individual packages of costs.
  • Develop positive relationships with providers, manage the provider market, and implement and monitor compliance with Council contracts.

What experience do you need?

  • Strong experience of contract management and procurement with background of monitoring outcome-based contracts and specifications.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and a track record of successfully negotiating contracts.
  • Public sector and/or children’s services background would be beneficial but not essential.
