Established in 2002, my client offers a wide range of ecological services. Since establishment, the company has grown into a dynamic team based in East Anglia. At the heart of their work is the ambition to provide pragmatic and cost-effective services for clients with high quality results. They tend to work on local projects for a range of sectors including but not limited to; residential, industrial, commercial, research, maritime and aquatic.
They tailor their services to the needs of their clients and with a core, dedicated team in place they take pride in attention to detail. The services they provide include specialist mollusc, aquatic invertebrate and botanical surveys, as well as protected species advice, reporting and surveys for bats, badgers, great crested newt, reptiles, crayfish, fish, birds (including barn owl), hazel dormouse, otter, water vole and small mammals. They also offer advice tailored for individual clients to help meet a range of ecological needs, such as habitat management and enhancement plans.


Your new role
This is a full-time Consultant Ecologist role with a hybrid schedule, based in East Anglia.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver ecological consultancy and mitigation works in a fast-moving, client-focused environment.
  • Undertaking a wide range of ecological surveys including UKHab habitat surveys and more specialist work such as protected species surveys and mitigation.
  • Carrying out desk studies, consultations, research, data management and analysis, and report writing.
  • Liaising with clients and statutory bodies.
  • Assist senior colleagues with more specialist work, for example, provide support on protected species surveys.
  • Inputting into ecological sections of Environmental Impact Assessments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies
  • Experience in conducting ecological surveys in the UK and preparing associated reports and assessments
  • Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in working as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex ecological issues and concepts to clients and colleagues with varying levels of understanding
  • A full, clean UK driving license and access to a vehicle
  • GCN, Dormouse and Bat Licences would be preferable
  • Excellent report writing and IT skills
