Compliance Accountant - SAR

Robert Half are currently seeking an Interim Compliance Accountant - Solicitors Accounts Rules, to join our client's team in central Bristol (with excellent hybrid working options) for an initial 12 month contract.

This role is crucial in finding an individual with strong knowledge of SAR to ensure the smooth operation of the finance function to cover maternity leave for a period of 12 months.

Start Date: Flexible

Duration: 12 months

Salary: DOE & qualifications - Very competitive market rate

Hybrid working - Central Bristol with excellent flexibility & hybrid working

Working hours - The working hours are 35 hours per week

You will be responsible for:

• SAR expert on hand to respond to ad hoc queries
• Run monthly client monies reports and send to fee earners
• Send out unclaimed monies reports to fee earners
• Calculate and apply client interest in line with Firm policy
• Work with Cashiering team to ensure payments are legitimate and in line with policies
• Provide guidance and expertise on VAT and disbursements
• Review and approval of weekly payment and expenses runs
• Review and approval of one-off payments

Person specification:

• Extensive experience with and demonstrable understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
• Prior experience in a law firm and with a SAR audit
• Attention to detail and accuracy of information
• Strong numerical reasoning skills
• Organised, with lateral thinking skills
• Strong interpersonal skills capable of effective communication at all levels, especially with partners and senior
• Remains calm and professional under pressure
• Strong customer service ethic
• Team player
