Complex Needs Counsellor (Talking Minds Hounslow Project)

Location: Based in Hounslow with frequent off-site travel within Hounslow.
Salary: Salary scale £26,000 - £30,450 per annum (inclusive of Outer London Weighting) for FTE (37.5hours). £20,800 to £24,360 (Incl. OLW) for 30 hours.
Hours: 30 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, subject to performance and continuous funding

We are looking for a Complex Needs Counsellor who will be pivotal to developing and delivering our Talking Minds service for women experiencing multiple needs - substance misuse, domestic abuse and mental health - in Hounslow.

The post holder is part of our Hounslow service and will contribute to its effectiveness and to the success of our counselling programmes across the organisation.

As our Complex Needs Counsellor your main duties will include:

  • Provide structured counselling and groups for women with complex needs to address mental health, domestic abuse and substance misuse
  • Establish referral pathways and partnership working
  • Support volunteer counsellors
  • Undertake monitoring and reporting of the Talking Mind project.

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience of supporting women from diverse backgrounds on a range of issues, e.g. mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse
  • Counselling experience and qualifications - must be accredited by BACP or UKCP or another relevant professional body
  • Ability to access and engage women in the service
  • Understanding of trauma, recovery and harm minimisation
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to speak a relevant community language (Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Somali, Tamil, Farsi, Polish) is desirable.
