Community Engagement Officer - Big Local Gateshead
Salary: £25,129 - £27,826 pro rata
Hours: Part time - 30 Hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term until March 2025 - possible continuation
Location: Gateshead

This programme will deliver the charity's mission of supporting people to improve their prospects and reach their full potential. As an organisation, our client is proud of the effective role that their Community Project Managers play in delivering significant social, environmental and health outcomes with communities across the region.

About the role

Big Local Gateshead is a small community lead organisation operating in Teams, Gateshead, governed and operated by passionate local people, with the aim of empowering residents to improve the area in which they live and work.

The 4 key community aims of Big Local Gateshead are:

  • Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them.
  • People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
  • The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
  • People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.

The charity is looking for this role to help expand operations, increase engagement from the local community, and strengthen relationships with other third-sector organisations.

A bit about you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working in a community setting being confident and approachable to people of all ages, cultures and ethnicities
  • Ability to use social media platforms and Office 365, for communication and the promotion of The Big Local Gateshead
  • Ability to coordinate activities and motivate others including our network of volunteers
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends
