The client
Northern Powergrid owns and operates the network that distributes electricity to homes and businesses across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire. Employing over 2,500 people, the business has 8 million customers and supplies 3.9 million properties via 60,000 miles of overhead powerlines and underground cables.

The business are looking to expand their Communications department with several roles to provide proactive content across Northern Powergrid's channels that meet the communication priorities.  This is an exciting opportunity with the chance to work autonomously, with creative freedom and with a targeted approach to drive the brand forward.

Northern Powergrid are seeking candidates with a proactive mindset with the appetite to seek content within the community, push boundaries and deliver innovative and ground breaking content.

The role
This role will support the Investment and Innovation Communications manager with delivering communications campaigns aimed at customers, stakeholders and media on key projects and initiatives, both internally and externally.

This role can be based from Castleford or Newcastle offices.
Responsibilities
•    Working closely with the Innovation and Investment Communication Manager and managers across the organisation to plan and deliver communications and engagement activity aimed at improving and enhancing Northern Powergrid’s brand across the regions
•    Support with the planning and delivery of internal and external stakeholder engagement on projects relevant to NPg innovation or investment right from the outset of the project through to delivery and any subsequent follow up communications requirements.
•    Delivering creative marketing and social media campaigns ensuring they are taking a proactive approach to promoting the benefits of the projects and investment within the regions.
•    Prepare and deliver proactive and reactive responses for projects for all aspects of media, including social media, ensuring that their reputation and integrity is maintained. 
•    Build trusted relationships with project managers to provide communications solutions, and support as appropriate on communication and marketing activities.
•    Work with the Stakeholder Relations Team to help with preparing briefings for high profile/ complex external meetings with partners and key stakeholders.
•    Work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure effective use of communications, web, digital and marketing tools.
About you
•    Experience of media management and/or PR campaign delivery experience.
•    Ability to manage complex media issues with reputational implications for Northern Powergrid.
•    Highly developed writing and content production skills including social media, video and audio. 
•    Creative skills to develop content that influences, informs and engages media, customers and other key stakeholders.
•    Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills including experience of building effective working relationships with colleagues as well as the managing media and external agencies.
