Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistant who loves good food and has basic kitchen skills will join a team that puts a modern twist on traditional pub food, serving real value-for-money meals using locally sourced products is required for a well-established Pub and Eatery based in Coventry, West Midlands.

SALARY: £22,267 - £22,552 per annum (subject to skills and experience) + Excellent Benefits

LOCATION: Coventry, West Midlands (CV4)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-Time Hours will be considered)

WORKING HOURS: 36.5 hours per week that will include evenings and weekends. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business which will require some longer shifts

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Commis Chef/ Kitchen Assistantwho loves good food and has basic kitchen skills to join a team that puts a modern twist on traditional pub food, serving real value-for-money meals using locally sourced products.

The organisation is looking to hire passionate people to prepare and serve their take on the traditional pub style menu as part of a team in a large open plan kitchen with a 160+-capacity venue. High standards, passion and exemplary food hygiene are essential, as well as serving their customers with a friendly smile.

Working as the Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistantno two days will be the same, you will support the busy kitchen team to prepare and serve the ever-evolving menu and core of weekly speciality dishes to customers. You will need to have a good knowledge and passion for food and drink, be confident with basic kitchen skills, and be able to provide excellent service under pressure.

This Commis Chef/ Kitchen Assistantposition is perfect for someone who likes variety, is self-motivated and proactive; who takes real pride in their work and is looking to gain further experience in a friendly and hardworking team environment.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistantwill include:

• Help prepare and serve food for sale, to a high standard

• Work alongside trained Chef’s and follow hygiene regulations and systems at all times

• Be able to prep to the required standard without supervision

• Maintain set portion control

• Ensure stock is rotated

• Contribute to the further development of menus

• Sign for receipt of deliveries

• Promote good customer care at all times

• Maintain a clean and tidy work area

• Assist the team in deep cleaning tasks

• Use appropriate protective clothing or equipment

• Adhere to cleaning schedules, complete due diligence records and implement hazard control procedures

• Operate all machinery and equipment in a correct and safe manner

• Abide by current legislation and organisational policy concerning food hygiene, health, safety and fire

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• Good understanding of customer care

• A team player

• Ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure

• Experience of cash handling

• Approachable and professional manner

• Understanding of health, safety and hygiene requirements

Desirable

• Basic hygiene certificate

• Experience of working within a kitchen
