We are looking for a highly skilled Commercial Product Manager who will scope, develop and deliver a market-leading hotel product portfolio for designated source markets, in accordance with commercial objectives and targets. Ensuring all product is relevant, saleable, complies with market regulations and meets company quality and Health & Safety standards. The role is responsible for the UK market and supporting the Netherland market

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

  • Lead and embed a customer focussed culture (internal or external). Ensure product quality and customer service performance meets/exceeds the needs of the customer and is delivered to specification. Act on feedback to make improvements to the end-to-end customer experience.
  • Ensure all policy and legal requirements are adhered to by operating within a framework of compliance, which protects customers, teams, and minimises risk to the business. Ensure all products selected meet agreed company standards of quality, health, and safety.
  • Responsible for the creation and management of market bed briefs, outlining key target properties which are to be contracted on a direct basis, giving Thomas Cook a commercial and strategic advantage.
  • Manage and update the property ranking tool on a regular basis to ensure key properties are pushed to the top of the SRP, giving them maximum exposure and support the drive for increased conversion and profitability.
  • Lead product innovation and continuous improvement, utilising destination insight and the data available from the suppliers and market intelligence. Ensure that products are fully researched, costed, developed, and implemented in an agreed timescale and in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure there is sufficient supply of saleable and competitive product for local market, through close collaboration with bed bank partners and the internal contracting team. This will be achieved through product planning and proactive product management throughout the booking cycle.
  • Work closely with bed bank partners and direct contracting team to drive down supplier margins, secure special offers and/or exclusive rates, which are then taken to market by the Thomas Cook Marketing and Social Media teams.
  • Attend regular trading, commercial and supplier meetings to drive the commercial agenda and business objectives.

Key performance indicators

  • Achievement of booking, sales & margin targets, which includes removal of costs through supplier negotiations and continuous product improvement.
  • Customer feedback from the relevant Customer Service Metrics specifically relating to accommodation. Numbers and category of customer complaints by supplier are a key KPI.
  • Contribution to local market product strategy and implementation of new product lines.
  • Budget owned: No direct ownership but contribution to budget, forecast by market and destination set.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Holds extensive product management experience and a proven track record of meeting revenue targets and operating in a commercial role.
  • Significant understanding of dynamic packaging and OTA operations.
  • Strong supplier relationship and account management experience, especially with global bed banks and accommodation providers.
  • The use of innovative / creative thinking and problem solving to succeed in this every changing industry.
  • Knowledge of relevant IT systems and market offerings with the ability to develop and think through future ways of working.
  • Proven track record in delivering objectives and managing large product portfolios.
  • Familiarity with local (or the ability to rapidly learn) travel regulations which impacts our operations.
  • Personal integrity, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence, time, and energy.
  • Knowledge and experience of operating in NL and UK source markets
  • Experience of Intuitive software is desirable.
