Commercial Lead - Architectural Steelwork

Basildon, Essex

£60,000 - £80,000

Company Overview: Join our client’s reputable team and prominent architectural steelwork company based in Basildon. With a rich history of delivering high-quality steel fabrication and installation services, we specialize in providing innovative solutions for commercial and industrial projects. As we continue to expand our operations and enhance our market presence, we are seeking a talented Commercial Lead to drive business development, manage client relationships, and oversee commercial activities.

Position Overview: As the Commercial Lead will play a pivotal role in driving the company's commercial strategy and expanding our client base in the architectural steelwork sector. Working closely with the management team, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and maximizing revenue growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, business development, and project management, with a proven track record of success in the construction industry, preferably within architectural steelwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy to achieve revenue targets and market expansion goals.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the architectural steelwork sector, including commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, contractors, developers, and other key stakeholders to generate leads and secure project contracts.
  • Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to provide tailored solutions that meet client requirements and project specifications.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bids, proposals, and tender documents in response to client inquiries and RFPs.
  • Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to ensure favorable outcomes and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from initial contact to contract execution, and ensure seamless handover to project management teams.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify emerging opportunities and threats.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts, progress reports, and analysis to senior management to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, and commercial management, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of architectural steelwork, structural engineering principles, and construction methods.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective client relationships.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving targets and driving business growth.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
