A Japanese logistics company is currently recruiting a Commercial Associate for Asset Management to join their busy office in London.

You will be responsible for managing the assigned asset safely, effectively, and in accordance with the highest industry standards, ensuring to preserve its viability and minimize any downtime.

Commercial Associate MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Administer Project Budgets with the Ship Managers

• Undertake High level Marine/Operational analysis of potential opportunities.

• Manage Internal Approval process and interact/liaise with Technical and Commercial Teams overseas.

• Give Asset Management input in response to Tenders and Presentation Materials and follow up activities.

• Develop relationships with existing and potential clients and other related organizations.

• Provide Operational Input for Contractual compliance matters.

• Ensure effective governance and compliance of all commercial and ship management contracts (Time Charterparties, Ship Management Agreements, Support Finance Team of the project)

• Liaising with Charterers and review of off hire reconciliation statements.

• Review and negotiate time charterparty performance claims and report to manager/owner before settlement.

• Keep all stakeholders fully updated on progress and close out

• Ensure vigorous control and review of ship technical manager actual spend v budget

• Ensure HQ reports are submitted as per the agreed deadlines

• Support insurance manager and minimize impact to P&L

• Prepare and organize.

• Ensure Monthly KPI scorecards are sent to Charterers / Owners.

• Quarterly business reports. Submit to Board of Directors and Shareholders.

• Deputize for Manager when on holiday or away on business trips

• Provide commercial/operational support to business development / project teams when required

Commercial Associate IDEAL CANDIDATE:
• Degree in maritime and/ or business
• A good working knowledge of LNG/ LPG / Tanker shipping commercial operations.

• Familiarity with LNG /Tanker time charter/ shipbuilding contractual terms and associated commercial agreements

• Ability to read basic financial statements.

• Good cultural awareness with the ability to engage with various stakeholders worldwide

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks / projects by oneself.

• Commercially astute with a sharp eye for detail

• Numerically astute and comfortable reporting large numbers to management (USD$ millions)

• Capable to report complex commercial matters in a few salient points and provide resolution(s) to manager.

• Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills

• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Some understanding of Japanese culture and Japanese language would be advantageous
