As a result of ongoing growth, this leading global insurance broker has an exciting opening for an experienced Commercial Account Executive to inherit a portfolio of accounts.

Our client is the largest broker in the South West, and well-entrenched in the local business community and beyond. Enjoying phenomenal success, the company hit its 2023 annual targets by the end of Q1, and as such, this growth offers very attractive career-development opportunities.

This role officially reports into the company’s Bristol office, where you will need to attend sometimes, however, our client is flexible on your location. It is expected that you will spend a lot of your time out seeing clients, but in between those meetings, you can attend a variety of offices throughout our client’s branch network. As such, this role could realistically appeal to candidates within 1.5 hours of Bristol.

You’ll inherit a commercial book generating circa £300K in commission and fee income. The exact nature of this portfolio can be tweaked to reflect your skills, experiences and ambitions; for example, we welcome applications from Junior Account Exec’s or Senior Account Handlers wishing to step into a client-facing role and inherit a smaller portfolio of £5K-£15K income risks, as well as Corporate Account Executives who wish to take charge of more complex cases generating six-figure fees.

The focus here is very much on the retention of existing accounts, so you will not be burdened with a punitive new business target. You will be supported in the day-to-day management of your portfolio by a dedicated team of Account Handlers, who will do a lot of the 'heavy lifting’ in terms of answering client enquiries, preparing renewals, dealing with MTA’s and associated policy administration. This will free you up to build great rapport with your clients’ key personnel, and a deep understanding of their businesses and the risks that they face.

Whilst we welcome applications from candidates at all levels of experience, it is essential that you have a knowledge of a variety of commercial covers such as Property, Liability / Commercial Combined and Motor. You must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders from all walks of life. You should pride yourself on your client service skills, and always be prepared to go the extra mile to ensure SLA’s are achieved.

In return you will receive a generous basic salary up to £70K, together with a market-leading, flexible benefits package that includes a 12% employer pension contribution. Whilst this is by no means a business development role, you will also receive 25% bonus on all new business. You will also benefit from a fantastic array of opportunities for progression that are difficult to replicate elsewhere in the South West insurance market. For example, like other members of the team, you could move into specialist/ technical or leadership positions in the coming years.

This broker is big advocate of flexible-working, and you will have the opportunity to work remotely, attending the office a couple of times per week.
