Our Client:

Founded more than 40 years ago, our client has progressively become one of the most important Prime Suppliers to the Aerospace Industry. They provide design, machining, fabrication, component repair, electrical loom manufacture, and surface treatment services, to the Aerospace and Defence Industries.

Based in comprehensive, new, purpose-built manufacturing facilities at Stansted and Chelmsford in Essex and in Manchester. The total surface area occupied by the company exceeds 600,000 square feet, and is one of the largest privately owned facilities of its kind in the UK.

Your Role:

Your role will be to produce 3 and 5 axis CNC programs at a well-regarded and growing Aerospace Engineering business. Carryout programming duties for NPI and improving existing jobs, within a facility utilising thirty-five CNC machine tools and lathes.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Produce 3 and 5 axis CNC programs with supporting documentation from both 2D drawings and 3D models
  • Produce 3D model data from 2D drawings where model data is required but not available from the customer
  • Plan and program machining methods for components  Complete setting sheets
  • Design any tooling/fixtures to aid the efficient manufacture of precision parts
  • Communicate with shop floor staff, management and customers to resolve engineering problems
  • Assist with questions from shop floor staff and support ongoing live work
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements
  • Comply with quality and regulatory standards
  • Perform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Company
  • Strive to improve cutting and manufacturing times on previously completed requirements.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest technology to drive continuous improvement, and reduce scrap

EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience of aerospace or precision engineering
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement
  • Previous HyperMill experience preferred
